A qEEG (quantitative electroencephalogram) is a diagnostic tool which measures the brain's electrical activity in the form of wave patterns. It is also referred to as "brain mapping."
To obtain a qEEG, the client sits in a chair with a special cap on.
Conductive gel is placed into the cap's sensors to ensure a good connection. The client is then asked to sit with their eyes closed for 11 minutes and then with their eyes open for another 11 minutes while the computer records the brain's electrical waves.
These brain waves can then reveal important information about your overall brain health, including your stress levels, thought patterns, and emotions. An analyzed qEEG can highlight brain wave patterns which are associated with impulsivity, cognitive inflexibility, anxiety, and other symptoms. Healthier patterns can then be taught which effectively reduce or eliminate the symptoms.
